Fifty years after the death of Martin Luther King Jr. and the start of the national Civil Rights Movement, Barrack Obama has claimed the White House. The nation watched anxiously last night as McCain pulled ahead in the beginning with a total of thirteen electoral votes to Obama's eight. But slowly, as each poll began to close throughout the nation it was evident that Americans wanted change. Barrack Obama will be sworn in on January 20th, 2009 as the first African-American President of our time after winning a total of 349 electoral votes to Senator John McCain's 161.
