For Fred Thompson, former Tennessee senator and television star of Law and Order, today was the end of the road. Thompson announced this morning that he was withdrawing his name from the 2008 Presidential race, but he added that he and his wife were very grateful to all the support they had along the way. Thompson's withdrawal comes as a result of placing third in South Carolina and not winning any of the other three caucuses or primaries in the race.
