Tea Anyone?

On this day in 1773 American colonists had obviously had enough of the British and their laissez fair governing. Angry at the numerous taxes that have been mounted upon them colonists decide to show the English where they stood. In Boston Harbor three ships carrying crates of tea, which 342 of them ended up over board by the end of the night. The Sons of Liberty were eager to stop Britain's taxation of them without the proper representation. Unfortunately for England it lost the equivalent of $16,000 in tea in one night. Whoever said freedom was not free now has proof. For this and other historical moments please go to www.historychannel.com

Vick Sentenced

Michael Vick was sentenced earlier today. The suspended Atlanta Falcons Quarter Back was placed under arrest for heading up an illegal "inhumane" dog fighting ring and then lying about it. The U.S. District Judge Henry E. Hudson in the case could have sent the football player packing for up to 5 years. However, Vick got off with a 23 month sentence. The judge ordered that Vick apologize to all the young people who looked up to him. Vick responded by saying that he was welling to accept the consequences of his actions. It is possible that Vick could be out by the summer of 2009 on good behavior.

Sunday, Sunday, SUNDAY!!!!!

Well, well, well. It appears that the Steelers could not live up to their legacy on the Patriots home field tonight. Reports on Yahoo News and other sports wires this week said the Steelers desperately wanted to be the one team, the first team, to stop the Patriots climb to the top (aka the Super Bowl). However, nothing for the moment has or will stopped them from enjoying the perfect season. By the first quarter everyone knew the game was already over. Patriots stayed strong with a 7 to 3 lead over their rivals and within the 3rd and 4th quarters the Steelers showed no momentum. Patriot fans however, rejoiced at their teams 34-13 win. Congrats guys and keep it up. For this and other sports news please go to www.nfl.com.

It's That Time Again.....

Hardly seems like four years ago when our nation held the Presidential Election of 2004. Now it's that time again...yep, the Republicans are duking it out for their shot at the White House, the Democrats are equally divided among Hillary and Obama and the battle continues with South Carolina. And this in itself could be a premonition of things to come for this up-coming Presidential Election. As with Abraham Lincoln South Carolina was a dividing point between war and peace. Next year it will be between Republican and Democrat. But the state has not voted for a Republican since Ronald Reagan in 1980. Right now the four top Republican contenders are Mitt Romney, Rudy Giuliani, Fred Thompson and John McCain. What is making this race unlike the one in '04 is the undecideds. Many people are contending that it will come down to Giuliani and Romney, others lean more to Thompson's side, and still others are liking McCain's stance. Whoever it is it will not be long until there is a clear winner, until then though it's not a bad idea to take in everyone's opinion and the candidates stances on the major issues. Hero Hayden Attempts to Save Dolphins

Hayden Panettiere, star of the NBC hit show HEROES, made a bold stand against Japanese fishing practices. It's all over the Inside Edition and E! networks. The internet is buzzing about her heroic attempt at saving dolphins as they were to be cornered and killed in a cove surrounded with nets to block them their escape. Hayden was one member of the Save Japan Dolphin's coalition. The group is trying to stop the practice of slaughtering over an estimated 23,000 dolphins each year. The United States has condemned Japan for the offense, however like Hayden and the groups attempts, the unpopularity of the practice in the states has done little to sway the Japanese to stop. Angry fishermen stabbed at Hayden and the group members as they stood between them and the dolphins. Hayden was caught coming to shore sobbing and afterwards faced several hours of questioning by local law officials as the group reached a traffic stop. It is very disturbing to see such practices take place. Hayden was quoted as saying after the ordeal in the water " One little baby dolphin stuck his head out and kind of looked at me, and the thought that it's no longer with us is really difficult to take." Wondeful World of Sports

For those of us who got a chance to tune in last night we were stunned that the World Series was over so quickly. As game four rolled around the Sox took back their second title in four years. The wild card, the Rockies, manager Clint Hurdle, said that "At the end of the day, you look back on the game. How did you execute? They executed better than us all four games." As the Sox walk away with another title the Patriots completely slammed the Washington RedSkins. According to the Patriots website "Brady extended his NFL record of games with at least three touchdown passes to start a season with another three along with 306 yards on 29 of 38 passing." In the end the score was an amazing 52-7 with the Pats on top. Looks like this team might be going back for a another shot at the Super Bowl. Will they walk away with another title like the Sox? A Day That Changed America and a Generation

I can remember September 11, 2001 very well as I am fairly certain that most of you can. It was a day which not only changed America but it changed an entire generation. Unlike our parents who lived through the Vietnam War we were staring straight into the past. This was something that only our grandparents had experienced during Pearl Harbor. The enemy had come to us. Today we remember those who lost their lives, both men and women. Mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers, and sisters. People whose families are still trying to heal even six years later. We remember the heroes who risked their own lives to save countless others, that brought a city together and united Americans all over the country. So let me say thank you to all those brave men and women and their families. Let me tell you that for generations to come that they will all be remembered and honored on this day. Beethoven.....Murdered?

Was Beethoven murdered by his own doctor? New reports out today suggest that he was given an overdose and died due to lead poisoning. However, there is no question about it that Beethoven was a very sick man before his death. According to Christian Reiter, a Venetian forensic scientist, Beethoven's lead level spiked with each visit from his doctor. According to the report at foxnews.com "He says his analysis, published last week in the Beethoven Journal, shows that in the final months of the composer's life, lead concentrations in his body spiked every time he was treated by his doctor, Andreas Wawruch, for fluid inside the abdomen. Those lethal doses permeated Beethoven's ailing liver, ultimately killing him, Reiter told The Associated Press." For this and other news please go to www.foxnews.com or www.cnn.com.

The last time a marriage ceremony took place at the White House was when Nixon's daughter tied the knot. The mystery man in Jenna's life is Henry Hager, 29. The two have been dating for several years and Hager could be seen next to Jenna's side at family functions "such as the November 2005 dinner in honor of Britain's Prince Charles," according to MSN.com. Hager is the son of John and Maggie Hager of Richmond, Va. His father is chairman of the Republican Party in Virginia. His father is also the former Lieutenant Governor of Virginia. 3 Utah Mine Rescuers Killed in Collapse, 6 Injured

It has been 11 days total since the August 6th Utah Mine collapsed. Officials brief the families every day as to their progress trying to reach the trapped miners. However, the rescue efforts were compromised and as a result three of the rescuers were killed by another fatal collapse, and six others were reported injured. According to foxnews.com "The seismic activity underground has just been relentless. The mountain is still alive, the mountain is still moving and we cannot endanger the rescue workers as we drive toward these trapped miners," said Bob Murray, chief of Murray Energy Corp., the co-owner and operator of the Crandall Canyon mine." Reportedly rescue workers heard strange noises coming from the mine giving everyone a glimmer of hope that they will find these men alive. Two Sides to Everything

You know that old saying "There's two sides to everything"? Well apparently there were two sides to our 16th President, and no I'm not talking about personality. I'm talking about facial features. Science has confirmed what so many artists and sculptures of Abraham Lincoln already knew, that he had a good side and a bad side. Everyone does when taking a photograph, but President Lincoln's features are a little more defined. The claim states that his left side was much smaller than his right side. According to the report "Lincoln's contemporaries noted his left eye at times drifted upward independently of his right eye, a condition now termed strabismus said, Dr. Ronald Fishman who published this study in the August issue of the Archives of Ophthalmology." And as any history buff, especially one addicted to anything during the Civil War will note, Lincoln's sculpture in the Lincoln Memorial, Washington DC, also points out two sides to the Presidents facial expression. On one side he appears calm and relaxed, a time of peace. On the other his eye is narrowed and his fist tightly clinched, a sign of stress. Glenn McDuffie was not believed to be telling the truth when he claimed to be the kissing sailor in a classic sixty-two year old photograph. However a renowned Texas sketch police artist backs up Mr. McDuffie's claim. Lois Gibson said that his eyebrows, hair texture, and facial features match the photograph taken in Times Square. The photo is infamous for being one of the best taken at the relief of the end of the second World War. Mr. McDuffie said that it was time people knew the truth. I suppose a kiss really is worth a thousand words. For this and other news please go to www.foxnews.com or www.cnn.com.
